Classroom Management
I use a color card system to manage student behavior in the classroom. Each day students start on green. I usually give each student a verbal warning before changing his/her card to another color, but it depends on the action. The following describes what each color means:
Green: You’re doing great! You get a chance ticket if you stay on green all day.
Yellow: WARNING!
Orange: You lose recess for one day.
Red: You lose recess and your parent(s) will receive a phone call from me.
Be sure to check your child's behavior calendar, located in the take home binder.
Students can also earn chance tickets throughout the day if they are “caught being good.” As students earn chance tickets, they place them in the treasure chest. On Fridays two student names are drawn, and those students choose a reward.
Students need to understand the importance of working together as a whole group towards a goal. The whole class can earn dolphin dollars from any adults in the building. Once students earn a certain amount of dollars, they get to choose a whole class reward.
